TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE THE SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL NAVY JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS FOR ITS OUTSTANDING WIN OF THE 2007 NJROTC STATE ACADEMIC TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO WISH THE TEAM MEMBERS AND THEIR INSTRUCTORS ALL THE BEST IN FUTURE COMPETITION.

Whereas, the Silver Bluff High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) captured the 2007 NJROTC State Academic Team Championship; and

Whereas, honor, courage, and commitment join with exceptional intelligence in the NJROTC, the latter demanding great strength of mind, diligence, and follow-through; and

Whereas, displaying all these traits, the members of the Silver Bluff NJROTC academic team showed both fans and foes alike that this team, which dominated the state competition held in Georgetown, South Carolina, was a force to be reckoned with; and

Whereas, this dynamic championship team was composed of Academic Team Co-Captains Dustin Hornsby and Eli Medina and members Eric Prior, Arik Furner, Ashton Hall, and Stephen Mitchell; and

Whereas, instructors LCDR Ron Freeman and Chief Charles Neighbors, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their academic program into a championship team; and

Whereas, having already won this year's drill and rifle state titles, Silver Bluff completes the Triple Crown of NJROTC championships in attaining the 2007 academic state title; and

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the House of Representatives, expecting to hear of further success in years to come, recognize the young people of the Silver Bluff NJROTC academic team for their winning intelligence and discipline. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and recognize the Silver Bluff High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps for its outstanding win of the 2007 NJROTC State Academic Team Championship, and wish the team members and their instructors all the best in future competition.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Silver Bluff High School, J. Todd Bornscheuer, and LCDR Ron Freeman and Chief Charles Neighbors, instructors.
