A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE WILSON HIGH SCHOOL "TIGERS" BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM OF FLORENCE COUNTY ON ITS IMPRESSIVE SEASON WINNING THE CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO HONOR ITS PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH BOB WILSON ON A SENSATIONAL SEASON.

Whereas, the Wilson Tigers had a remarkable season finishing up with an incredible 23-6 overall record and capturing the first State championship in boys basketball in the school's history; and

Whereas, this incredible season was the result of hard work, dedication, and determination, as well as, great coaching and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, Coach Wilson along with his assistant coaches, Pete McCants and Rodney Barr, were able to find the perfect mix among the players to win consistently throughout the entire season; and

Whereas, the Tigers were forced to win three straight playoff games on the road against Brookland Cayce in the first round, North Myrtle Beach in the second round, and Georgetown in the third round before reaching the Lower State finals to face off against Lake Marion High School; and

Whereas, in an intense physical struggle against the Gators of Lake Marion, the Wilson Tigers prevailed in a 57-56 victory to be able to advance to the state championship game for the first time in school history; and

Whereas, pitted against Greenville High School in the state title game, the Tigers seemed to have little difficulties overwhelming the Raiders by a score of 67-50 to take home the Class AAA State Championship trophy; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pride in recognizing the young men of the Wilson High School boys basketball team on an outstanding achievement and in honoring them as tremendous student athletes who demonstrate the endless possibilities of hard work and great teamwork. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Wilson High School "Tigers" boys varsity basketball team of Florence County on its impressive season winning the Class AAA State Championship, and to honor its players and their coach Bob Wilson on a sensational season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Wilson High School Principal, Dr. Gerard Edwards, and Coach Bob Wilson.
