A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-3-621 SO AS TO PROVIDE A BIENNIAL REGISTRATION FEE FOR A MOTOR HOME; AND TO AMEND SECTION 56-3-20, RELATING TO CERTAIN DEFINITIONS CONCERNING MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND LICENSING, SO AS TO DEFINE A MOTOR HOME.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 5, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-3-621.    The department shall charge a biennial registration fee for a motor home according to the following schedule:

Less than 12,000 pounds                                        $ 64.00

12,000 to 15,000 pounds                                        $ 78.00

15,001 to 18,000 pounds                                        $142.00

18,001 to 21,000 pounds                                        $168.00

21,001 to 24,000 pounds                                        $202.00

24,001 to 27,000 pounds                                        $238.00

27,001 to 30,000 pounds                                        $274.00

More than 30,000 pounds                                        $332.00."

SECTION    2.    Section 56-3-20 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding an appropriately numbered subsection to read:

"( )    'Motor home' means a vehicle designed to provide temporary living quarters integrated as an integral part or permanent attachment to a motor vehicle chassis. A motor home must have at least four of the following:

(a)    a cooking facility;

(b)    a refrigerator or icebox;

(c)    a self-contained toilet;

(d)    a heating or air conditioning unit;

(e)    a portable water supply system with a faucet and sink;

(f)    a 110-125 volt electric power supply; and

(g)    an LP gas supply."

SECTION.    3.    If any section, subsection, paragraph, subparagraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this act is for any reason held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such holding shall not affect the constitutionality or validity of the remaining portions of this act, the General Assembly hereby declaring that it would have passed this act, and each and every section, subsection, paragraph, subparagraph, sentence, clause, phrase, and word thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more other sections, subsections, paragraphs, subparagraphs, sentences, clauses, phrases, or words hereof may be declared to be unconstitutional, invalid, or otherwise ineffective.

SECTION    4.    This act takes effect six months after approval by the Governor.
