VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MR. BILL HARMON OF LEXINGTON COUNTY FOR RECEIVING COLONIAL SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE'S FRANK SUMMER SMITH, JR., VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR 2007.
Whereas, Bill Harmon, a director of new accounts in Colonial Supplemental Insurance's accounts service department, has been named Colonial's Frank Summer Smith, Jr., Volunteer of the Year for 2007; and
Whereas, Mr. Harmon, whose volunteerism is an inspiration to his coworkers, is part of a long-standing tradition of Colonial Volunteers. He has countless hours of dedicated service to enriching the lives of others, and most especially to making a difference in the lives of children in the Midlands; and
Whereas, he has been an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 312 and also has served as merit badge counselor and Eagle Scout Adviser; he has coached various sports through the Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commission; and
Whereas, Mr. Harmon also has supported two foreign exchange graduate students at the University of South Carolina, has helped with fundraising for the American Heart Association, and is part of the first responder team to help with employee emergencies on Colonial's campus; and
Whereas, Mr. Harmon, his wife Sue, and their three children are faithful members of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Irmo, where Mr. Harmon has continued his commitment to mentoring youth through serving as a Sunday school teacher and where he has served the broader congregation by his contributions and leadership on the Board of Redeemer Lutheran; and
Whereas, Bill Harmon is an exemplary role model and mentor whose selfless service, enthusiasm, and giving spirit is an inspiration to all; and
Whereas, it is proper and fitting for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations to recognize such a dedicated volunteer and outstanding South Carolinian. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Mr. Bill Harmon of Lexington County for receiving Colonial Supplemental Insurance's Frank Summer Smith, Jr., Volunteer of the Year Award for 2007.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Mr. Bill Harmon.
