VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE SPARTANBURG HIGH SCHOOL LADY VIKINGS TRACK TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 CLASS AAAA STATE GIRLS TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE RUNNERS, HEAD COACHES SHAY RICE AND GLOVER SMILEY, AND THEIR ASSISTANT COACHES AND STAFF.
Whereas, in May 2007, the Spartanburg High School girls track team showed their top-flight mettle by capturing the 2007 Class AAAA State Girls Track Championship title, outdistancing Summerville High School, the Lady Vikings' nearest competitor, 83-81; and
Whereas, head coaches Shay Rice and Glover Smiley and assistant coaches Rob Wilder, Douglas Wynn, Jim Wood, and Tyrone Johnson, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their girls track program into a championship team; and
Whereas, no strangers to the taste of victory, the young women of the Spartanburg High School Lady Vikings track team merit tribute for their incredible championship win, their fifth in the last eight years, back-to-back with last year's triumph, and the latest in a dominating streak of girls track championships nailed down by the team; and
Whereas, adding to the luster of an already stellar season, Coach Shay Rice was named Regional Coach of the Year; and
Whereas, the members of the Spartanburg High School Lady Vikings track team have brought great pride and recognition to their school, community, and State, and the South Carolina House of Representatives, expecting great achievements in the future from these talented athletes, is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young women. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Spartanburg High School Lady Vikings track team on its impressive win of the 2007 Class AAAA State Girls Track Championship title, and honor the runners, head coaches Shay Rice and Glover Smiley, and their assistant coaches and staff.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Spartanburg High School Lady Vikings track team and head coaches Shay Rice and Glover Smiley.
