A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS OF THE LAKE MURRAY JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THEIR ENTHUSIASTIC AND VISIONARY WORK IN SERVING THE NEEDS IN THE COMMUNITIES OF IRMO, LAKE MURRAY, AND LEXINGTON COUNTY.

Whereas, realizing a need for a service-based organization to benefit the people of their own communities, a group of young professionals of Lake Murray came together to found a chapter of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, otherwise known as the Jaycees; and

Whereas, led by Angie Wedekind, the Jaycees seek to enhance the lives of their members and of the community by teaching leadership skills, networking skills, family-life skills, and individual development through community service projects; and

Whereas, the Lake Murray Jaycees are proud to support Camp Hope at Clemson University, a camp for physically and mentally disabled individuals of all ages, as their primary state charity; and

Whereas, locally, the Lake Murray Jaycees have begun support of the Palmetto Health Children's Hospital and of the Healthy Learners, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity; and

Whereas, as an organization, the South Carolina Junior Chamber of Commerce has actively involved itself for the future of community leaders and has worked for the betterment of South Carolina for seventy-three years; and

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives recognize the Lake Murray Jaycees for their commitment to their own communities and to the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the young professionals of the Lake Murray Junior Chamber of Commerce for their enthusiastic and visionary work in serving the needs in the communities of Irmo, Lake Murray, and Lexington County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Angie Wedekind of the Lake Murray Jaycees.
