TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR CAPTURING THE 2008 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.
Whereas, the Pinewood Preparatory School boys basketball team defeated arch rival Porter Gaud 60-57 on March 1, 2008, to capture the 2008 South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship title; and
Whereas, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, Coach Pat Eidson and his assistant coaches, Tony Bulford, Ray Murray, Jim Hart, and Blake Hall, built their basketball program into a championship team; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent 27-4 season for the Panthers and proves the team to be a powerhouse to be reckoned with; and
Whereas, in further recognition for the team, Ryan Steed, Milton Jennings, Ryan Bogdan, and K.J. Manigault were named to the All-State team, and Milton Jennings was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, adding luster to his team's stellar record, Coach Pat Eidson earned his own kudos on December 3, 2007, when he recorded his six hundredth career win; and
Whereas, the Panthers have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
