VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE DEATH OF RUBY "MS. RUBY" SMITH STEVENS, OF LEE COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY, HER CHURCH, AND HER MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Ruby "Ms. Ruby" Smith Stevens of Bishopville on June 2, 2008; and
Whereas, a native of Darlington, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Smith and the late Scooter Davis Smith, and she was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and Day Star Mission; and
Whereas, Ms. Ruby, with her beloved husband Dalton "The Button Man" Stevens, raised four fine children Frances Jones, Carolyn Stevens, the late Terry Stevens, and J. D. Stevens, who blessed her with two adoring grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and
Whereas, retired from Bishopville Manufacturing, she will be missed by friends and co-workers; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives express their sorrow at the loss of Ms. Ruby Stevens, an exemplary citizen of Lee County. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their sincere sorrow upon the death of Ruby "Ms. Ruby" Smith Stevens, of Lee County, and express their deepest sympathy to her family, her church, and her many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dalton "The Button Man" Stevens.
