A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE, COMMEND, AND EXPRESS THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO SUSAN ELIZABETH HUSMAN FOR HER YEARS OF DEDICATED AND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM STATE SERVICE AS LIBRARIAN WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, AND TO WISH HER A REWARDING AND BENEFICIAL RETIREMENT AND MUCH SUCCESS IN HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, at the end of March 2007, Susan Elizabeth Husman is retiring after thirty-two years of dedicated and distinguished state service as Librarian for the South Carolina Attorney General's Office; and

Whereas, during her career, Susan Elizabeth Husman has had the distinction of serving the citizens of South Carolina under four different Attorney Generals, namely, Daniel R. McLeod, T. Travis Medlock, Charles Molony Condon, and Henry McMaster, and has performed her duties in a courteous and effective manner; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman was born in Milford, Connecticut, moved to South Carolina in 1966, and has been a resident of Lexington County during the times she has lived in South Carolina; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman is the daughter of the late Colonel Donald Leigh and Geraldine Rosche Husman; the sister of brothers Stephen A. Husman and Michael R. Husman; the sister-in-law of Jeanne Anderson Husman and Barbara Mathais Husman; and the proud aunt of Ashleigh Husman, Manon Husman, Jessica Clark, Kelli Husman, and Abbie Husman; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. degree in education and a minor in art in 1970, then taught art in the Miami Beach-Dade County Schools in 1970-71 and dance in Eugene, Oregon in 1972-74, before returning to the University of South Carolina to earn a Master's degree in Library Science in 1975; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman has been an adjunct professor teaching moveable type printing and book binding at University of South Carolina's Davis College for the Library Science program; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman has been a member of American Association of Law Libraries, Southeastern Association of Law Libraries, and South Carolina Library Association and has served as secretary of the Special Libraries Section of South Carolina Library Association in 1995-96 and as President of the Administrative Section of the South Carolina Library Association in 1976-79; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman has been a member of the South Carolina State Employee Association and has served as a board member representing the Office of the Attorney General since 1997; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman's artistic expertise has been recognized by a first place prize for crafts at the South Carolina State Fair for her creation of a tooth fairy for niece Abbie; and

Whereas, Susan Elizabeth Husman has been a dependable and thoughtful resource to persons conducting legal research in this State and a loyal and supportive friend to many people. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate recognize, commend, and express their appreciation to Susan Elizabeth Husman for her years of dedicated and distinguished service, and wish her a rewarding and beneficial retirement and much success in her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented Susan Elizabeth Husman.
