A SENATE RESOLUTION

HONORING MRS. JOYCE W. LETT FOR HER MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE AS MARION COUNTY TREASURER.

Whereas, Mrs. Joyce W. Lett is the daughter of Mamie West and the late Thomas West; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lett was married to John D. Lett, Jr., for forty-four years and the couple was blessed with two daughters, Allyson Hennecy of Marion and Michelle Crisler of Sumter, and two grandchildren, Logan Hennecy and Denson Crisler; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lett is a graduate of Mullins High School and Columbia Commercial College; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lett began her career in the Marion County Treasurer's Office in August of 1968, serving as Assistant Treasurer from 1973 to 1981; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lett was appointed Treasurer in 1981, to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Jimmie Boatwright; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lett ran unopposed as Treasurer in 1982, and has never been opposed for re-election during the twenty-six years she served as Marion County Treasurer; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lett is a member of the Azalea Garden Club, a lifetime member of Tranquil United Methodist Church, served on the Board of Directors for the Marion Chamber of Commerce and the United Fund of Marion County, and has been a member of the South Carolina Association of Auditors and Treasurers since 1981, where she served on numerous committees; and Whereas, Mrs. Lett has enjoyed her many years as a public servant, and through her service as Marion County Treasurer was privileged to meet so many people of Marion County and made many lasting friendships. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor Mrs. Joyce W. Lett for her many years of dedicated public service to the State of South Carolina and to Marion County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Joyce W. Lett.
