A SENATE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING COACH COREY LEWIS FOR HIS MANY ACHIEVEMENTS AND HIS DEDICATION AND LEADERSHIP AS A COACH AND AN EDUCATOR.

Whereas, Coach Corey Lewis is married to the former Shan McPhail, and they have one son, Jahlil; and

Whereas, Coach Corey Lewis graduated from Hartsville High School in 1994; and

Whereas, Coach Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Benedict College and a Masters in Sports Administration from the United States Sports Academy. Coach Lewis is currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Educational Leadership; and

Whereas, Coach Lewis coached the Hartsville High School Varsity Baseball Team to the 2007 AAAA State Championship title, bringing the title home to his alma mater for the first time in more than a decade; and

Whereas, Coach Lewis led the Red Foxes to finish an incredible season with a 29-4 record by defeating the Yellow Jackets of North Augusta with an impressive 6-0 win. This win secured the fourth state baseball title baseball for Hartsville High School; and

Whereas, Coach Lewis is a member of Mt. Calvary AME Church and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity; and

Whereas, Coach Lewis stepped down as Head Baseball Coach at Hartsville High School in 2007 in order to pursue his studies and enjoy spending time with his family. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this Resolution, do congratulate and honor Coach Corey Lewis for his many achievements and his dedication and leadership as a Coach and Educator, and wish him well in is future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Corey Lewis.
