A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE LIFE OF FAIRY MORRIS, ONE OF TILLMAN'S CHERISHED CITIZENS, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HER MANY MORE YEARS OF PROSPERITY AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were truly delighted to learn that Mrs. Fairy Morris celebrated a century of life on June 7, 2007, during their legislative interim; and

Whereas, there exist in life few joys more satisfying than that of living a long life marked by effective and valuable service to one's family, church, and community; and

Whereas, joined by three generations of her family and a myriad of longtime and loving friends, Fairy Morris enjoyed her centenary celebration in one of her favorite places, historic Tillman Baptist Church, a landmark in the community; and

Whereas, Fairy Morris and her late husband, Willie Morris, a section foreman for the Southern Railroad, moved to Tillman in 1942, during World War II; and

Whereas, even though the town of Tillman has changed substantially since then, Mrs. Morris' commitment to her church and her work with the church's vacation Bible school are well remembered by many; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to know that Mrs. Morris, very alert and in remarkable health, enjoyed the celebration of her one hundredth birthday singing one of her most beloved hymns, How Great Thou Art, and surrounded by those dear to her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor the life of Fairy Morris, one of Tillman's cherished citizens, upon the occasion of her one hundredth birthday, and wish her many more years of prosperity and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Fairy Morris.
