TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF WILLIAM RANDALL "WILLIE" PARKER OF AIKEN COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of William Randall "Willie" Parker during their recess on July 5, 2007; and
Whereas, born in Florence County on January 30, 1945, he moved to Aiken when he was nineteen years old where he worked with Owens Corning Fiberglass until he joined the Aiken Police Department several years later; and
Whereas, he faithfully and dutifully served the City of Aiken for thirty-three years as a police officer, fireman, crime-prevention officer, and building inspector; and
Whereas, Willie married his beloved wife Dianne, and with their fine son they enjoyed cooking on the grill, riding motorcycles, working on vehicles, and remodeling their home; and
Whereas, his love of dogs was a hallmark of his reputation in Aiken for the many who saw him go about his work on the streets of Aiken with his silver-tipped German Shepard; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful for the life of William Randall "Willie" Parker and the thirty-three years of service he gave to the citizens of Aiken and express their heartfelt sorrow at his death. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of William Randall "Willie" Parker of Aiken County, and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dianne Parker.
