TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE WACCAMAW HIGH SCHOOL LADY WARRIORS GIRLS TENNIS TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE CLASS A-AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THESE EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.
Whereas, the Lady Warriors of Waccamaw High School defeated West Oak High School 5-1 on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, to capture the Class A-AA State Tennis Championship title; and
Whereas, exhibiting teamwork, dedication, tenacity, and ability, Waccamaw achieved this crowning victory to a successful season under the able leadership of Head Coach James Brown and Assistant Coach Browder McGill; and
Whereas, members of this stellar team were Sarah Altman, Casey Altman, Elizabeth Bankert, Briana Bombich, Megan Costin, Ashley Gaines, Carrie Harper, Becca Harper, Danielle Hartzler, Riley McCallus, Charlotte Myers, Liz Rowell, Laura Saum, Allison Stanford, and Chandler Witt; and
Whereas, Allison Stanford was 2005 and 2006 State Singles champion and was selected to All-State, and Liz Rowell was a North/South All-Star Selection and was selected to All-State; and
Whereas, the Waccamaw Lady Warriors deserve accolades for their incredible season and for achieving their third championship win in the girls tennis finals in a superb three-year winning streak; and
Whereas, these fine players have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young women. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Waccamaw High School Lady Warriors girls tennis team for their outstanding season and for capturing the Class A-AA State Championship title, and honor these exceptional players, coaches, and staff.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Waccamaw High School Lady Warriors tennis team and their coaches.
