A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 61-4-240, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO TEMPORARY POSSESSION, CONSUMPTION, AND SALE PERMITS OF BEER OR WINE, SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE ISSUANCE OF THESE PERMITS AT CERTAIN HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE SPORTING EVENTS AND OTHER HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE-SANCTIONED EVENTS OR COMPETITIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 61-4-240 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 415 of 1996, is amended to read:

"Section 61-4-240.    (A)    Temporary permits for the possession, consumption, and sale of beer or wine may be issued pursuant to Sections 61-4-550, 61-6-500, 61-6-510, 61-6-2000, or 61-6-2010, as appropriate, and in accordance with these statutes.

(B)    Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (A) or another provision of this title, a temporary permit for the possession, consumption, and sale of beer or wine may not be issued for a high school league sporting event or other high school league-sanctioned events or competitions including, but not limited to, high school band concerts or competitions."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
