A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE LATTA HIGH SCHOOL "LADY VIKINGS" BASKETBALL TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 CLASS A STATE GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND COACH JEFFREY BLEY ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.

Whereas, well prepared for the challenge, the Latta High School "Lady Vikings" basketball team crowned its superlative 25-1 season by capturing the 2007 Class A State Girls Basketball Championship title, defeating Indian Land 60-46 at Columbia's Colonial Center; and

Whereas, championship play in basketball demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using these talents and attributes, Coach Jeffrey Bley and his players showed both fans and foes alike that the Lady Vikings' winning of this victory was no lucky accident; and

Whereas, scoring a team-high fifteen points in the final game, junior standout Rubylee Wright was named the All-Tournament Team's Most Valuable Player; and

Whereas, the General Assembly takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Latta High School girls basketball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the basketball court and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Latta High School "Lady Vikings" basketball team on its impressive win of the 2007 Class A State Girls Basketball Championship title, and honor the players and Coach Jeffrey Bley on an outstanding season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Latta High School, George Liebenrood, and Coach Jeffrey Bley.
