A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE CHESTERFIELD HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2007 DIVISION I CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, well prepared for the challenge, the Rams of Chesterfield High School defeated Carvers Bay 13-6 to capture the 2007 Division I Class A State Championship title; and

Whereas, Coach Steve Taneyhill and his assistant coaches, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their football program into a championship team; and

Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Rams, with eleven wins and three losses; and

Whereas, standout Simpson Miller was voted Player of the Year by the Sports Report, and Coach Taneyhill was named Coach of the Year by two publications, adding further luster to an already shining blue and gold season; and

Whereas, no strangers to the taste of victory, these players and the coaches of Chesterfield High School deserve tribute for their fine season and championship win; and

Whereas, the Rams have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the House of Representatives is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Chesterfield High School football team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2007 Division I Class A State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Chesterfield High School, Scott Radkin, and Head Coach Steve Taneyhill.
