A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR DENNIS THOMPSON FOR HIS SUCCESSFUL LEADERSHIP AS SUPERINTENDENT OF HAMPTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, AND TO WISH HIM WELL, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, AFTER THIRTY-SIX YEARS AS AN EDUCATOR IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful to learn of the thirty-six years as an educator that Dennis Thompson has given to the students of South Carolina; and

Whereas, a devoted family man, he and his beloved wife, Lois Thompson, raised four fine daughters, Devona Youmans, Deneya Dingle, Dentresa Taylor, and Dennelle Thompson; and

Whereas, with the support of his family, he served as a teacher, principal, federal coordinator, assistant superintendent, and superintendent in Hampton School District Two; and

Whereas, after beginning his career as an educator teaching fourth-grade science at Gifford Luray Elementary School, Dennis Thompson served for seven years as the principal of Estill Middle School; and

Whereas, then he successfully held positions as a federal coordinator in the district and as assistant superintendent for curriculum and personnel; and

Whereas, in the last eight years, Dennis Thompson has served the students of Hampton School District Two and their parents with distinction and proficiency as superintendent; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly express their appreciation to Dennis Thompson for his service to South Carolina's citizens and to the future of this great State and wish him success in all his future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Dennis Thompson for his successful leadership as Superintendent of Hampton School District Two, and wish him well, upon the occasion of his retirement, after thirty-six years as an educator in South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dennis Thompson.
