A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 4-11-25 SO AS TO PROVIDE QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COUNTY CLERK OF COURT, AUDITOR, AND TREASURER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 11, Title 4 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 4-11-25.    A person is not eligible to hold the office of county clerk of court, auditor, or treasurer unless the person has:

(1)    obtained a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution; or

(2)    ten years experience in the areas in which the county clerk of court, auditor, or treasurer has responsibilities."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
