TO CONGRATULATE DAVID L. EDMUNDS, SR., OF ABBEVILLE COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS NINETIETH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HIM A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that David L. Edmunds, Sr., of Abbeville County will celebrate his ninetieth birthday on June 5, 2010; and
Whereas, Mr. Edmunds, the son of Andrew and Fannie Edmunds, came into this world on June 5, 1920, in the early part of the twentieth century, and he has been witness to many of the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the twenty-first century; and
Whereas, born in McCormick County and raised in the community of Calhoun Falls, the young David grew to manhood and answered the call of his country to serve in World War II. He completed his 1944-1946 tour of duty as a member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged; and
Whereas, after retiring from his career with General Motors (Chevrolet Division) in Buffalo, New York, in 1973 he moved back to South Carolina, where he is presently a resident of Calhoun Falls; and
Whereas, Mr. Edmunds is the proud father of two children, Cheryl Edmunds Dublin and David L. Edmunds, Jr., who have given their father the joy of five grandchildren; and
Whereas, an active member of Glover AME Church in Calhoun Falls, Mr. Edmunds serves as a member of the church's steward, trustee, and usher boards. He is also a member of American Legion Bennett Wells Post 1780; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to honor this son of South Carolina at the celebration of his ninetieth birthday and joins with his family and friends in congratulating him on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate David L. Edmunds, Sr., of Abbeville County on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday, and wish him a joyous birthday celebration and continued health and happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to David L. Edmunds, Sr.
