Whereas, Westminster Baptist Church in Westminster, South Carolina, will celebrate its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary on Sunday, July 5, 2009; and

Whereas, the current pastor is Rev. Dr. Randy Keasler; and

Whereas, by 1820 a small congregation was meeting for worship and taking its name from Westminster Abbey in England, the Westminster Baptist Church was founded. Services were held in a log structure; and

Whereas, the church grew and prospered while doing the Lord's work in its community and in 1886, 1915, and 1977 new sanctuaries were dedicated to the glory of God; and

Whereas, a school annex was erected in 1952 and an educational building in 1962; and

Whereas, Westminster Baptist Church has served as a vital part of its community in numerous ways, including embracing and ministering to all of God's children, providing wholesome activities and services to community members, and spreading the gospel and teaching the Word of God; and

Whereas, Westminster Baptist Church's rich history precedes a richer future as the church continues to do God's will as it serves its community and enhances the quality of life in Oconee County. As it looks to the future, Westminster Baptist Church will pause to reflect on its first one hundred twenty-five years during joyous festivities. Now, therefore,
