A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE WEEK OF MARCH 22-27, 2010, AS "CONNECT A MILLION MINDS WEEK" WHEN TIME WARNER CABLE WILL INTRODUCE A HANDS-ON INTERACTIVE CURRICULUM TO SHOWCASE THE DIGITAL WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.

Whereas, in the next decade, eighty percent of all jobs will require science and math skills; and

Whereas, the future of our State and our nation depends on science, technology, math, and engineering. Currently, U.S. twelfth graders are performing below the average of twenty-one countries in math and science; and

Whereas, Time Warner Cable is an innovative, technology company committed to giving back to the community and addressing the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) crisis; and

Whereas, Time Warner Cable will work to connect a million minds by introducing youth to opportunities and resources that inspire them to develop the important STEM skills they need to become the problem solvers of tomorrow. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize the week of March 22-27, 2010, as "Connect a Million Minds Week" when Time Warner Cable will introduce a hands-on, interactive curriculum, "Cracking the Codes in the Digital World", based on national science standards to showcase the digital world of technology for middle school students.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Time Warner Cable.
