A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR AINSLEY BREE DALEY OF JASPER COUNTY FOR HER OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC, EXTRACURRICULAR, AND COMMUNITY ENDEAVORS, AND TO CONGRATULATE HER FOR CAPTURING FIRST PLACE IN THE 2012 SENATOR FOR A DAY SPEECH CONTEST.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate take great pleasure in commending the achievements of Ainsley Bree Daley of Jasper County and the high standards she has set among her peers; and

Whereas, born in Savannah, Georgia, she is the daughter of Thaire and Penelope Daley and sister of Ashton B. Daley and has already learned the importance and benefit of a family life that produces strong character and parents who instill sound moral standards and a solid work ethic; and

Whereas, she has been raised as a devout Southern Baptist, a conservative Republican, and a proud University of South Carolina Gamecock fan; and

Whereas, as an eighteen-year-old honor-roll junior at Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, she has continued to maintain high academic standards while on the cheerleading squad for the last six years; and

Whereas, in 2009, Ainsley was chosen as a UCA All American cheerleader, and as part of this honor, she performed at the Thanksgiving Day Parade at Walt Disney World; and

Whereas, a member of the Senior Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Thomas Heyward Academy, Ainsley was crowned as Miss Jasper County on August 29, 2011, and on November 4, 2011, she also won the title of Miss Thomas Heyward Academy; and

Whereas, actively involved with her community, she has participated in the Boys & Girls Club of Jasper County, the Town of Ridgeland community events, the United Way, the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce, and many church-sponsored events; and

Whereas, at the annual Senator for a Day speech contest, she delivered the winning speech in which she articulated dangers of distracted driving presented by those who text while driving, and she has lent her support to Senate bill 225 and its companion in the House of Representatives as a solution to this serious issue; and

Whereas, as Ainsley looks forward to the avenues she will follow in the future, her ultimate goal is to earn a Bachelor's Degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina and then to pursue further education at the Medical University of South Carolina to become a physician's assistant specializing in pediatrics; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina are pleased to recognize Ainsley Bree Daley, an outstanding daughter of South Carolina, and they extend to her their best wishes and look with interest to hear of her continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor Ainsley Bree Daley of Jasper County for her outstanding academic, extracurricular, and community endeavors, and congratulate her for capturing first place in the 2012 Senator for a Day speech contest.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ainsley Bree Daley.
