VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE MEMBERS OF THE BELTON LIONS CLUB, UPON THE OCCASION OF THEIR SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY, AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR YEARS OF SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP TO THE BELTON COMMUNITY.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to learn that the Belton Lions celebrated their seventy-fifth anniversary at a banquet held on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Belton First Baptist Church Family Life Center; and
Whereas, beginning with their charter on July 18, 1935, the Belton Lions Club has given seventy-five years of commitment and service to the Belton community; and
Whereas, current members of the Belton Lions Club were joined at the banquet by their spouses, District 32-A Lions from the upstate area, past Belton Lions Club presidents, and special guests to honor the memory of past Lions Club members and past presidents; and
Whereas, during the anniversary banquet news articles about the activities of the Belton Lions Club dating from July 1935 to the present were displayed in a digital slide presentation; and
Whereas, International Director Lion Dr. Eugene M. Spiess from Moore, South Carolina, presented Lions International Certificates of Commendation to Lions Dr. Eric Richardson, Richard Edwards, and Rex Maynard for their service to the Belton Lions Club for their role in collecting old eye glasses and in making some fifty eye exams and eye glasses per year available to people in the Belton community; and
Whereas, Dr. Speiss also delivered a challenging message about actively inviting people to join the Belton Lions Club, and Belton Lion President Bill Eaves gave a presentation of photo images from news articles that focused on the first six months of the Belton Lions Club after its formation in 1935; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the dedicated service of the Belton Lions Club to their community and for the outstanding contribution of Lion members throughout our great State as well as nationally and internationally. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor the members of the Belton Lions Club, upon the occasion of their seventy-fifth anniversary, and commend them for their years of service and leadership to the Belton community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the Belton Lion President Bill Eaves.
