A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF MRS. ROSEMARY H. LINDLEY OF ANDERSON COUNTY, MEMBER OF THE TRI-COUNTY TECHNICAL COLLEGE COMMISSION, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Rosemary H. Lindley of Anderson County, member of the Tri-County Technical College Commission, on September 22, 2010 during the legislative interim; and

Whereas, a committed, exemplary representative for Anderson County on the Tri-County Technical College Commission from 2001 until her death, Mrs. Lindley during her tenure on the commission demonstrated unyielding commitment to the community-college philosophy. In every way, she pursued the mission and purpose of Tri-County Technical College and the South Carolina Technical College System; and

Whereas, she was a tireless advocate for students and always had students' access to an affordable, quality education at the forefront of her thoughts, actions, and decisions; and

Whereas, actively involved in all commission meetings and workshops on the local, state, and national levels, she served on the Tri-County Technical College Commission Building Committee and was a strong proponent of the Gateway to College program at Tri-County Technical College from its inception. She was among the three board members who made on-site visits to observe other colleges' programs and who developed recommendations for the Tri-County program; and

Whereas, as a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson, Mrs. Lindley taught Sunday School, volunteered in Bible schools, worked with youth programs, and was a member of the Koinonia Sunday School Class; and

Whereas, she was a native of Anderson and deeply committed to her community, serving in various leadership capacities in the Anderson Junior Assembly, Anderson Woman's Club, Anderson Cotillion Club, Anderson Garden Club, Anderson Debutante Club, and the Golden Girls Investment Club; and

Whereas, she leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Charles D. Lindley; daughter Carrie Lindley Pruitt; son James Harley Lindley; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lindley will be remembered for years to come with affection and gratitude for her dedicated service to the people of South Carolina, especially in the county and community she served and loved for so long. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Mrs. Rosemary H. Lindley of Anderson County, member of the Tri-County Technical College Commission, and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Charles D. Lindley for the family.
