A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE DAVIS FRAWLEY, LLC, OF LEXINGTON ON ITS FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY AND TO COMMEND ITS PARTNERS AND STAFF FOR A HALF CENTURY OF OUTSTANDING LEGAL SERVICE TO THE MIDLANDS OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the Senate is pleased to note that Davis Frawley, LLC, of Lexington is celebrating fifty years of legal service to the South Carolina Midlands in 2012; and

Whereas, half a century ago in downtown Lexington, Hubert Long and Francis (Banny) Jones formed the law practice that was to become Davis Frawley, LLC, probably never dreaming of the growth that would sweep the community; and

Whereas, in the early 1960s, Hubert and Banny acquired the former feed store property of Otto and Sewanee Rentsjerna, and the firm began to expand. Bob Bouknight, Jim Barfield, and George Nicholson all came aboard during the decade. Sadly, Banny passed away in 1966. Hubert continued to serve as solicitor for Lexington County until 1969, later becoming circuit judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit from 1984 until 1991; and

Whereas, Randy Davis joined the firm in 1972 as the firm continued to expand. Needing additional space, the firm acquired the site of the original 1820 Lexington County Court House in 1980, and the firm's new building at 140 East Main Street opened a few years later. Pat Frawley, Nancy Young, and Jeff Anderson joined the office soon afterward, followed by Carey Ayer, John Fisher, Judy Fisher, and Lisa Smith. John McCauley joined the firm after many years of practicing in his own firm next door; and

Whereas, in recent years, the firm has continued to grow with the additions of Ryan Wingard, Jewitte Dooley, and Erica Parker. Bob Bouknight and George Nicholson are now "of counsel" to the firm, and Bob Bouknight's grandson, Joe Maye, plans to join the firm later this year; and

Whereas, traditionally known by the name of its senior partners, the firm was first called the Long Firm, next the Bouknight Firm, subsequently the Nicholson Firm, then the Davis Firm, and now Davis Frawley, LLC; and

Whereas, the firm assists individuals and businesses from South Carolina and beyond with a wide array of legal services. On any given day, its attorneys can be found appearing before multiple South Carolina trial and appellate courts, while also assisting clients with a wide variety of transactional issues, including estate planning, business formation, and real estate closings; and

Whereas, the Senate would like to take this opportunity to thank Davis Frawley, LLC, for its fifty years of superlative service to the Midlands, and the members take great pleasure in joining with Davis Frawley's friends, clients, and colleagues in congratulating the firm on reaching this important milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Davis Frawley, LLC, of Lexington on its fiftieth anniversary and commend its partners and staff for a half century of outstanding legal service to the Midlands of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Davis Frawley, LLC.
