A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CONSTANCE COX COLLINS FOR HER FORTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO EDUCATION IN GREENVILLE COUNTY.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina are pleased to learn that Constance Cox Collins has dedicated forty years to education in Greenville County; and

Whereas, in 1967, Constance Collins entered Bob Jones University as a freshman, and after her graduation she put down lasting roots and has made a significant and meaningful contribution to the community; and

Whereas, she taught fifth grade for seven years at Bob Jones Academy, and with the arrival of the first of her two sons, she joined the faculty of the Bob Jones University School of Education; and

Whereas, during her years at Bob Jones University, she has taught a myriad of courses to future early-childhood, elementary, and middle-school teachers; and

Whereas, in addition to her classroom responsibilities, Mrs. Collins supervises Bob Jones University practice teachers across the Greenville County School System, mentoring teachers-to-be in their transition from students to teachers; and

Whereas, her work in the Greenville County School System enables her to serve as a resource for the county, which brings her into contact with dozens of her graduates in classrooms throughout the county's districts; and

Whereas, known as a "teacher's teacher," Mrs. Collins is widely sought as a speaker for educational meetings, and in the last year alone, she has presented at conferences in New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey; and

Whereas, with a national reputation for effectively implementing technology in the classroom, she recently served on a panel mentoring public high-school students in remote Alaskan villages through interactive digital technology; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the selfless devotion and tireless service of Constance Cox Collins, which has enabled both students and teachers to learn more effectively, and for the pride and recognition she has brought to her community and to the Palmetto State as a nationally recognized educator. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Constance Cox Collins for her forty years of outstanding and dedicated service to education in Greenville County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Constance Cox Collins.
