A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE PRESIDING ELDER MELVIN FRIERSON, JR. ON A WELL-DESERVED RECOGNITION FROM THE BELIEVERS HOLINESS CHURCH CONFERENCE.

Whereas, the Believers Holiness Church Conference honored Presiding Elder Melvin Frierson, Jr. for his dedicated service to the citizens of Williamsburg County on May 3, 2014, at the Believers Holiness Church Conference First Annual Bishop's Award Banquet; and

Whereas, Presiding Elder Melvin Frierson, Jr. was born March 11, 1942 to Mr. Melvin Frierson, Sr., and Mrs. Leola Lunn Frierson; and

Whereas, educated in the public schools in Darlington County, Elder Frierson graduated from Mayo High School in 1963. From 1987 to 1989, Elder Frierson simultaneously attended Florence Darlington Technical College in Florence and Lighthouse Christian College and Christian Outreach Bible Institute in Fayetteville, North Carolina; and

Whereas, Elder Frierson has earned a Biblical Diploma and a Bachelor of Religious Education. He attended Cathedral Bible College for a semester before transferring to The Believers Bible Institute (BBI) where he received a Bachelor of Religious Education degree and continued to study through a masters degree program; and

Whereas, he has worked as the co-president of A&L Used Cars and as a car sales representative from 1980-2006; and

Whereas, Elder Frierson was called to the ministry at a young age and was ordained by the Believers Holiness Conference in 1978. After thirty-four years, Elder Frierson is still faithfully serving. He is the pastor of Mt. Zion Tabernacle and Scott Holy Temple Believers Holiness Churches. He ministers to his congregation and others who are in need of guidance. He conducts Bible Studyand oversees all of the affairs of the churches; and

Whereas, Elder Frierson has previously pastored at Little Star Believers Holiness Church and St. Luke Believers Holiness Church in Cheraw. He is the presiding elder of the Believers Holiness Church Conference. He has served as an intervention specialist for the Fatherhood and Families Engagement organization; and

Whereas, Elder Frierson is married to Mrs. Louise Green Frierson. The two are blessed with seven children and twelve grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate find it fitting to recognize and honor Elder Frierson for his many years of dedicated service in furtherance of the God's kingdom. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Presiding Elder Melvin Frierson, Jr. on a well-deserved recognition from the Believers Holiness Church Conference.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Presiding Elder Melvin Frierson, Jr.
