A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE A. C. FLORA HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS AND INSTRUCTORS OF RICHLAND COUNTY FOR THEIR EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR CAPTURING THE 2016-2017 DISTRICT ONE SUPERINTENDENT'S TROPHY AWARD.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that the A. C. Flora High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) received the 2016-2017 Richland District One Superintendent's Trophy Award in March of 2017; and

Whereas, the trophy is awarded annually to the District Unit that best displays sustained superior performance for an entire year in five areas vital to military bearing: uniform wear, competitive drill, community service, physical training, and cadet knowledge; and

Whereas, Lieutenant Colonel Dwayne Gatson and Command Sergeant Major Hayward Thompson maximized their own military expertise and training to forge a unit that excels and to teach these students lessons that will prove invaluable throughout life; and

Whereas, the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina values the outstanding training that the members of the A. C. Flora JROTC have received and their dedicated service to the community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor the A. C. Flora High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and instructors of Richland County for their exceptional performance and congratulate them for capturing the 2016-2017 District One Superintendent's Trophy Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Lieutenant Colonel Dwayne Gatson and Command Sergeant Major Hayward Thompson.
