A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE GREGORY P. DIETTERICK UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SENECA, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Gregory P. Dietterick upon the occasion of his retirement on June 29, 2018; and

Whereas, Gregory P. Dietterick began his career with the City of Seneca in 1998 as Light & Water Director of Utilities. Since that time, he has also served as City Administrator; and

Whereas, under Mr. Dietterick's leadership, the City of Seneca has flourished. With a focus on historical preservation, the city purchased both the Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum, which focuses on the history, culture, and contributions of local African Americans, and the Lunney House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places; and

Whereas, the city has also implemented new innovations in infrastructure, including an entirely electric bus system and peak generation savings for the city's power load, saving the city millions of dollars; and

Whereas, the City of Seneca remains committed to giving back to its residents as well, and Mr. Dietterick has been instrumental in helping it find its niche as a top-rated town for retirement. A regional magazine helped garner national recognition for the city in this vein, highlighting the area's year-round golf, renovated downtown, and looming mountains; and

Whereas, in honor of veterans who live or have lived in Oconee County, the city established the Wall of Honor at Norton-Thompson Park; and

Whereas, Mr. Dietterick is married to his wife, Jean M. Dietterick. He has one daughter, Christine; two sons, Scott and Adam; and four grandchildren, Olivia, Marshall, Reagan, and Clifton; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful for the diligence and commitment that Gregory P. Dietterick has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. The members take immense pleasure in wishing him well as he enters retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Gregory P. Dietterick upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his many years of dedicated public service to the City of Seneca, and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Gregory P. Dietterick.
