Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize the Aiken County Historical Museum as it celebrates this important milestone; and

Whereas, the Aiken County Historical Museum was first housed in the Aiken County Jail from 1970 until 1984; and

Whereas, in 1984, the Aiken County Historical Museum moved into a portion of Banksia, the Winter Colony home built by Richard F. Howe, and in 1992, it expanded to assume the entirety of Banksia's 17,500 square feet and 3.5 acres; and

Whereas, the grounds of the Aiken County Historical Museum are also home to an 1890s one-room schoolhouse and a log cabin built in 1808; and

Whereas, over the past fifty years, the Aiken County Historical Museum has helped define and strengthen Aiken County by preserving, interpreting, promoting, and displaying the county's history; and

Whereas, the Aiken County Historical Museum is supported by the citizens of Aiken County, the Aiken County Historical Commissioners, the Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum, and the many volunteers and supporters of the museum; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment of the Aiken County Historical Museum to serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
