A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR ALLEN HUTTO FOR HIS HEROIC ACTIONS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Allen Hutto for rescuing two fishermen whose boat capsized on Lake Murray; and

Whereas, as Mr. Hutto was kayaking, he noticed a center console boat capsizing in the waves. He saw two men bobbing and flailing in the water. One did not have a life vest and appeared to be struggling; and

Whereas, Mr. Hutto paddled to the men and instructed them to grab onto the bow of his kayak. Mr. Hutto then waved over a nearby pontoon boat and helped the fishermen onto the boat before taking them to a nearby landing; and

Whereas, a prominent Midlands community member, Mr. Hutto is the CEO of the Building Industry Association of South Carolina, which advocates for the home building industry in the Midlands. He has kayaked for thirty-five years, and this experience enabled him to assist these two men in a dangerous situation; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that Allen Hutto has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor Allen Hutto for his heroic actions.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Allen Hutto.
