A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE LOWCOUNTRY FOOD BANK ON RECEIVING A 4-STAR RATING FROM CHARITY NAVIGATOR, AMERICA'S LARGEST INDEPENDENT CHARITY EVALUATOR, AND TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE ORGANIZATION FOR ITS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE HUNGRY.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency of the Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) have earned it a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's largest independent charity evaluator; and

Whereas, this is the twelfth consecutive time since 2009 that LCFB has earned this top distinction. According to Charity Navigator, only 1% of all charities they evaluate have received at least twelve consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating the food bank outperforms most other charities in America; and

Whereas, LCFB's exceptional 4-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public. Only a quarter of charities rated by Charity Navigator receive the distinction of the 4-star rating; and

Whereas, in serving the ten coastal counties of South Carolina, Lowcountry Food Bank distributed more than thirty-nine million pounds of food in 2020. The organization helps fight hunger by distributing food to nearly three hundred partner agencies, including on-site meal programs, homeless shelters, and emergency food pantries. Lowcountry Food Bank advocates on behalf of those who experience hunger and helps empower people to make healthy and nutritious food choices; and

Whereas, the House, grateful for Lowcountry Food Bank's service to the people of South Carolina, takes pleasure in recognizing its fine achievement in earning a 4-star rating for its work. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Lowcountry Food Bank on receiving a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's largest independent charity evaluator, and recognize and honor the organization for its dedicated service to the hungry.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
