A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE LANE HINSON, DIRECTOR OF TENNIS AT THE COUNTRY CLUB OF LEXINGTON, ON BEING NAMED 2020 USTA SOUTHERN TENNIS PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AND 2020 USTA SOUTH CAROLINA TENNIS PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AND TO WISH HIM MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Lane Hinson, director of tennis at the Country Club of Lexington, was named 2020 USTA Southern Tennis Professional of the Year and 2020 USTA South Carolina Tennis Professional of the Year; and

Whereas, the USTA held the official award presentation on Monday, March 8, 2021; and

Whereas, the coveted Southern Tennis Professional of the Year award is presented annually to a tennis professional in the nine-state USTA Southern Section who demonstrates a significant contribution to the game of tennis through his or her promotion of the USA tennis programs, as well as by support of the USTA's mission. The same dedication and excellence earned Lane Hinson the honor of being named the South Carolina Tennis Professional of the Year for 2020; and

Whereas, during Lane's tenure at the Country Club of Lexington, the club has been recognized as the 2021 Best of Lexington Life Magazine Winner for Best Place to Play Tennis. Also during this time, Lane has served his profession as a member of the Lexington Area Tennis Association (LATA, president, 2021), USTA South Carolina Junior Recreation Committee (chair, 2020-2021), and USTA South Carolina Junior Competition & Player Development Committee (2020-2021). Further, he was co-founder of the USTA South Carolina Tennis Apprentice Program in 2020 and presently serves as director of the LATA Sunburn Open Tennis Tournament, the largest adult doubles tournament in the Palmetto State. He served as coach of the 2019 USTA Junior Team Tennis 12 & Under Intermediate Sectional Champions; and

Whereas, previous accomplishments include being named a Special Olympics Unified Partner and 2017 USTA Southern Leadership Initiative graduate. In 2016, he was co-founder of the Columbia Pro League. This 5.0-rated USTA League player is a certified member of the Professional Tennis Registry, served as men's captain of his University of South Carolina Club Tennis, and was 2013 Junior Tennis League Coach of the Year. At Ridge View High School, he earned recognition for the most individual singles wins; and

Whereas, taking great pleasure in saluting Lane Hinson on the receiving of these latest accolades, the House congratulates him as the new USTA Southern Tennis Professional of the Year and USTA South Carolina Tennis Professional of the Year. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Lane Hinson, director of tennis at the Country Club of Lexington, on being named 2020 USTA Southern Tennis Professional of the Year and 2020 USTA South Carolina Tennis Professional of the Year and wish him much continued success in the years ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Lane Hinson.
