A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 12-24-10, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DEED RECORDING FEE, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE FEE MAY NOT EXCEED THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR ANY SINGLE RESIDENTIAL DEED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 12-24-10 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding an appropriately lettered subsection at the end to read:

    "( )    Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the fee imposed by this chapter may not exceed three thousand five hundred dollars for any single deed for residential realty."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect July 1, 2022.
