VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A senate RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE APRIL 2026 AS "Foot health Awareness MONTH" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the human foot is a complex structure containing twenty-six bones and serves as the foundation for the rest of the body's mobility and overall health; and
Whereas, approximately twenty percent of Americans experience at least one foot problem annually, and many systemic diseases, such as diabetes and peripheral arterial disease, often manifest first in the feet; and
Whereas, untreated foot conditions can lead to further complications in the ankles, knees, hips, and lower back, affecting quality of life for many South Carolinians; and
Whereas, National Foot Health Awareness Month, established by the American Podiatric Medical Association, seeks to educate the public on simple, preventative steps such as daily inspections, proper footwear, and regular check-ups to avoid serious injury and illness; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the South Carolina General Assembly to encourage its citizens to prioritize their health and well-being from the ground up. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize April 2026 as "Foot Health Awareness Month" in South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association.
