A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE THE Spartanburg Day SCHOOL Varsity boys and girls Golf TEAMs, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR the boys team FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLiNA Independent School Association BOYS Golf STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Spartanburg Day School varsity boys and girls golf teams and to honor the boys team for winning the South Carolina Independent School Association boys golf state championship on April 28, 2026, at Coastal Carolina's Hackler Golf Course in Conway; and

 

Whereas, in the championship boys game, the Spartanburg Day Griffins defeated Hilton Head Preparatory Academy by a two-day score of 581 to 606; and

 

Whereas, Spartanburg Day also dominated the individual standings, producing the tournament medalist and sweeping the top three spots. Davis Petty claimed medalist recognition with a two-round total of 135, following Monday's 69 with a tournament-best 66 on Tuesday and Matthew Roff and Kingston Linder tied for second place at 146. A. K. Milner finished with a 154, while Reid Hines carded a two-day total of 161; and

 

Whereas, the Spartanburg Day School varsity boys golf team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Coach Todd White; and

 

Whereas, in addition to the accomplishments of the boys team, a member of the Spartanburg Day School girls golf team, Poppy Dawson, is hereby recognized for being named the SCISA AAA state champion; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Spartanburg Day School varsity golf teams have brought to their school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the teams and their talented athletes.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Spartanburg Day School varsity boys and girls golf teams, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor the boys team for winning the South Carolina Independent Schools Association boys golf state championship.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Spartanburg Day School varsity boys and girls golf teams; coach, Todd White; and head of school, Dave Skeen.
