A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE JESSIE THOMASON OF GREENVILLE COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

 

Whereas, on June 2, 2026, Jessie Thomason of Greenville County awakened to the celebration of a milestone event: her one hundredth birthday; and

 

Whereas, hailing originally from a close-knit rural community of about six hundred fifty, Ty Ty, Georgia, Jessie was born the daughter of Will and Ellis Paul on June 2, 1926. She came into this world early in the second quarter of the twentieth century and thus has witnessed the many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the early second quarter of the twenty-first century; and

 

Whereas, in the fullness of time, the young Jessie met Alvin Ozell Thomason, to whom she was married for twenty-three years. God blessed their union with ten children, twenty-one grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Along with her own young ones, she also raised a nephew, Curtis Paul, and many other children fondly call Jessie mom; and

 

Whereas, over the years, Jessie has found much delight in gardening, particularly in growing and attending to flowers, as well as in fishing. She also relishes family gatherings and listening to gospel music; and

 

Whereas, as a woman of faith, Jessie loves her pastor and her church family. Her favorite scriptures are Psalm 23 and Psalm 91, and she lives by Philippians 4:13 (NKJV): "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"; and

 

Whereas, to honor her at this very special time in her life, family and friends joined with Jessie to celebrate her centennial birthday on Saturday, June 13, 2026; and

 

Whereas, it is a great pleasure to honor this adopted daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her one hundredth birthday, and it is a further pleasure to join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this important life milestone. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Jessie Thomason of Greenville County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the days ahead.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jessie Thomason.
