A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Gracen Green FOR Her NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE girl SCOUTS OF AMERICA AND TO CONGRATULATE Her UPON ACHIEVING THE PRESTIGIOUS RANK OF Gold Award, THE HIGHEST AWARD IN Girl SCOUTs.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Gracen Green of the Girl Scouts of South Carolina-Mountains to the Midlands has successfully completed the requirements for the rank of Gold Award; and
Whereas, the daughter of Dana and Joseph Green, Ms. Green graduated from Mid-Carolina High School in Prosperity in 2024; and
Whereas, to earn the rank of Gold Award, a Girl Scout must demonstrate that they have made sustainable change in their communities and beyond. Concerned about the decline in pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, and other insects, Ms. Green set out to create a sustainable habitat for pollinators and to raise public awareness about the seriousness of their decline in order to meet the requirements for the Gold Award; and
Whereas, with a keen interest in plants and gardening, Ms. Green designed and built a pollinator garden filled with diverse flowering plants that support bees, butterflies, and other essential species; and
Whereas, to maximize the project's impact, she developed educational resources, including a website and social media content. The positive feedback from visitors, who shared how the garden transformed their understanding of insects, was truly rewarding. The project not only provided a vital resource for pollinators but also enabled Gracen to hone her skills in leadership, project management, and problem solving; and
Whereas, the South Carolin House of Representatives values the enthusiasm and success of young citizens, like Gracen Green, who purpose to contribute to their communities in a meaningful way to their environs and to their community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Gracen Green for her noteworthy achievements in the Girl Scouts of America and congratulate her upon achieving the prestigious rank of Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouts.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Gracen Green.
