A house RESOLUTION

 

TO HONOR DR. CALVIN E. ROBINSON JR. OF TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH IN FLORENCE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF GOSPEL MINISTRY AT TRINITY AND TO EXTEND TO HIM BEST WISHES FOR GOD'S RICHEST BLESSINGS AS HE CONTINUES TO SERVE THE LORD.

 

Whereas, it is entirely appropriate to honor those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to nurture the souls of men. Dr. Calvin E. Robinson Jr. of Trinity Baptist Church in Florence stands among their number as an outstanding minister of the gospel, one much admired by colleagues, congregations, and area residents at large; and

 

Whereas, in preparation for his ministry, Dr. Robinson earned his bachelor's degree from South Carolina State College, where he was a distinguished graduate of the Air Force ROTC. He earned his master's degree from Webster University and his doctorate in ministry from Virginia University of Lynchburg; and

 

Whereas, Calvin Robinson is a minister with a passion for helping people. He believes the family is the key building block of God's beloved community. He has been led to challenge men to serve as the priests of their respective homes and to lead their families in worship and in living the life Christ has instructed us to live; and

 

Whereas, further, he feels strongly that in order for the family to thrive, it must be in the proper environment, one conducive to growth; that the family must receive the nourishment and care needed to facilitate growth; and that the family must be protected; and

 

Whereas, Pastor Robinson teaches that husbands and wives should exude love for one another in every facet of life; have a deep commitment to supporting, and submitting to, one another; and share responsibility in raising and nurturing their children, who are gifts from God; and

 

Whereas, his ministerial travels for the purpose of preaching and teaching have taken him across the United States; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and the continent of Africa. Dr. Robinson has conducted seminars on fatherhood and marriage on the national level for the Administration of Children and Families and for Head Start on the state and local levels. Also on the state level, Dr. Robinson teaches doctrine, theology, homiletics, and creative ways of teaching. He is a teacher certified by the National Baptist Convention USA Inc.; and

 

Whereas, Pastor Robinson has a strong belief that the local church must strive for self-reliance and must manifest that doctrine spiritually, socially, economically, and politically. He has great love for his community; therefore, he is involved with various organizations to assist the homeless, the elderly, the abused, the incarcerated, and those seeking to further their education. He also seeks to support economic empowerment; and

 

Whereas, Pastor Robinson feels that being called by God to preach the gospel is the greatest honor of his life. He and his loving and devoted wife of forty-one years, Ann, are blessed to have three wonderful adult children, Avril, Angel, and Calvin III, as well as five delightful grandsons, twins Kiros and Khari, Demtrius II, Calvin IV, and Delanore III; and

 

Whereas, because of his many years of spiritual nourishment of the people of South Carolina, Pastor Calvin Robinson is due grateful thanks and best wishes as he continues to run the race the Lord has set before him. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Dr. Calvin E. Robinson Jr. of Trinity Baptist Church in Florence on the occasion of his tenth anniversary of gospel ministry at Trinity and extend to him best wishes for God's richest blessings as he continues to serve the Lord.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Calvin E. Robinson Jr.
