VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A bill
TO AMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS BY ADDING SECTION 53-3-340 SO AS TO DESIGNATE the SECOND DAY OF APRIL OF EACH YEAR AS "RENEE GOOD DAY" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, was tragically killed when an ICE agent shot into her vehicle on January 7, 2026; and
Whereas, Renee Good was a mother to a 6-year-old child whose father died in 2023. Ms. Good's mother said, "Renee was one of the kindest people I've ever known. She was extremely compassionate." Ms. Good's father expressed, "She had a good life, but a hard life. She was a wonderful person;" and
Whereas, Good attended Old Dominion University in Virginia, graduating in 2020 with an English degree, the school said in a statement. "May Renee's life be a reminder of what unites us: freedom, love, and peace. My hope is for compassion, healing, and reflection at a time that is becoming one of the darkest and most uncertain periods in our nation's history," Old Dominion President Brian O. Hemphill said in the statement. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
