VERSIONS OF THIS BILL

01/28/2026

A concurrent RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE GLENN AND ALLIE WILLIAMS OF GREENWOOD COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MUCH CONTINUED HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that David Glenn Williams and Alice Adams Williams of Greenwood County will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on December 31, 2026; and

Whereas, few successes in life are greater than a marriage that endures the test of time, for the long-lasting love and support of a spouse are unmatched in their importance and cannot be overestimated; and

Whereas, married on December 31, 1976, at Cokesbury College in Hodges, South Carolina, Glenn and Allie Williams have demonstrated a fifty-year commitment to one another in the institution of holy matrimony; and

Whereas, Glenn and Allie, having been born and raised in Greenwood County and having lived all their lives there as contributing citizens, have earned the admiration and appreciation of their community; and

Whereas, blessed with two children, Fred Williams of Columbia and David Williams of Athens, Georgia, the senior Williamses also have experienced the deep joy of four loving grandchildren and two devoted and caring daughters-in-law, all of whom have enriched their lives; and

Whereas, having managed his family's logging and forestry business with his father and brother most of his working life, Glenn has continued to give back to his community following his retirement. He builds houses and serves in numerous leadership roles, including as Sunday school teacher, at Main Street United Methodist Church. In addition to participating in local politics and running marathons, Glenn has received his second college degree from Lander University and is working on a third. He is a model of entrepreneurship, hard work, public service, and lifelong learning; and

Whereas, an ultimate example of a loving mother, devoted teacher, and selfless human being, Allie Williams spent decades teaching the two-year-old class at Noah's Ark preschool while also raising two children. She retired from teaching in Greenwood's public schools, having run a vacation Bible club with Glenn for over a decade, and she continues to be one of the most vital and integral members of her church; and

Whereas, their faith in Jesus Christ, love for one another, dedication to their family, and service to their neighbors are an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of knowing them; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the South Carolina General Assembly express their congratulations to these two special South Carolinians on reaching the milestone of their golden wedding anniversary. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Glenn and Allie Williams of Greenwood County on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and extend best wishes for much continued happiness and fulfillment.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Glenn and Allie Williams.
