VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CLINT AND ERIN HENDERSON, FOUNDERS OF COLE'S VICTORY LAP, FOR THEIR COMPASSIONATE LEADERSHIP AND FIVE YEARS OF IMPACTFUL SERVICE TO CHILDREN BATTLING CANCER AND THEIR FAMILIES.
Whereas, Cole's Victory Lap was established in 2021 by Clint and Erin Henderson following the loss of their two-year-old son, Cole, to neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer of the adrenal gland, after he was diagnosed in April 2020; and
Whereas, after more than ten months of courageous treatment, including chemotherapy, experimental radioactive therapy, a stem-cell transplant, and radiation, Cole passed away on February 20, 2021, and his parents resolved to transform their profound grief into a mission to support other families walking the same difficult journey; and
Whereas, the Hendersons began their ministry by providing snacks and beverages to patients at their local hospital in Greenville, recognizing that chemotherapy often damages taste buds and that proper nutrition is essential to sustaining strength during treatment; and they soon expanded their efforts to include the donation of bed sheets, blankets, and stuffed animals to help make sterile hospital environments more comforting and less intimidating for young patients; and
Whereas, to date, Cole's Victory Lap has donated more than 125,000 snacks, 20,000 beverages, and 3,000 sheet-set bundles to children and families in need, with current beneficiary hospitals including Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Upstate, Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Midlands, Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, Arthur M. Blank Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory Proton Therapy Center, Levine Children's Hospital, and Children's National Hospital; and
Whereas, most recently, Cole's Victory Lap pledged two-hundred fifty-thousand dollars to support the Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Upstate Hogs for the Cause Pediatric Hematology Oncology Unit in Greenville; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives commends and values citizens of the Palmetto State, such as Erin and Clint Henderson, whose resilience, compassion, and faith have transformed personal tragedy into a ministry of hope, comfort, and tangible support for countless children and families facing pediatric cancer. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Clint and Erin Henderson, founders of Cole's Victory Lap, for their compassionate leadership and five years of impactful service to children battling cancer and their families.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Clint and Erin Henderson.
