A concurrent RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Seneca High School boys track and field TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is gratified to learn that the members of the Seneca High School track and field team of Oconee County won the state title at the state competition held at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia on Saturday, May 17, 2025; and

Whereas, to the thrill of their exuberant fans, the Seneca Bobcats defeated a fine, competitive field of comers, besting their nearest rival, Wren High School, by a score of 54-53 in the final event of the competition; and

Whereas, Seneca has won seven state championships, but none since 2018. The program has finished as runner up three times since 2021; and

Whereas, the Bobcats won the 2025 meet by scoring in six of the seven events for 43 points. Avery Butler led the way by winning gold in the discus and silver in the shot put, setting new personal records in both events. In the discus he threw 58.46, bettering his old mark by almost three meters, and he put the shot 16.56 meters; and

Whereas, teammate Corbin Williamson was second in the javelin with a throw of 51.10 meters while Isaiah Lippert won a bronze medal in the pole vault, and Elias McGee won bronze in the triple jump and placed fourth in the long jump; and

Whereas, Bobcats Landon Crawford, Kevin Bradley, Evan Jackson, and Elias McGee ran a season's best 3:23.29 in their last event, the 4x400, to finish second in heat one and place seventh overall, after the results from the two heats were in, to get the two points they needed to overtake their upstate rival, Wren. Landon Crawford also placed fifth in the 400; and

Whereas, in a sport that demands teamwork, speed, and strength, Head Coach Chris White and his skilled coaching staff maximized their own athletic experience and training to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the track and field; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly values the pride and recognition that the Seneca track and field athletes have brought to their school and their community, and the members look forward to following their continued accomplishments in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Seneca High School boys track and field team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2025 South Carolina Class AAAA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Ashley Ramirez and Coach Chris White.
