A house RESOLUTION
TO DECLARE MARCH 30 THROUGH APRIL 2, 2026, AS "AI WEEK" IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO ENCOURAGE ALL CITIZENS OF THE PALMETTO STATE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS CRITICAL TECHNOLOGY.
Whereas, the House of Representatives has become aware that AI, or artificial intelligence, is rapidly transforming the modern workplace by becoming essential for increasing efficiency, for reducing routine tasks, and for expediting data-driven decisions; and
Whereas, artificial intelligence is a technology that can mimic human intelligence to solve problems, make decisions, and generate ideas. It acts as a tool for augmenting human capabilities, rather than simply replacing them, with applications in automation, content creation, and analysis; and
Whereas, key benefits include enhanced productivity, improved customer service, and faster learning, making AI literacy crucial for future-ready employees; and
Whereas, in light of AI's rising importance, during the week of March 30 through April 2, 2026, Horry-Georgetown Technical College will celebrate AI technology under the theme "Empowering Innovation with AI" by raising awareness of ethical and practical AI applications, encouraging collaboration and experimentation, and recognizing innovative ideas that advance student success and institutional effectiveness; and
Whereas, in short, learning to use artificial intelligence is crucial for increasing productivity, enhancing career competitiveness, and staying relevant as AI transforms industries by automating tasks, analyzing big data, and fueling innovation. Moreover, excellence in using AI enables faster decision making, fosters creativity, and helps solve complex problems, making competent use of this technology a foundational skill for the modern workforce. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, declare March 30 through April 2, 2026, as "AI Week" in the State of South Carolina and encourage all citizens of the Palmetto State to learn more about this critical technology.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
