A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JACOB SMITH, PRINCIPAL OF RIVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL, FOR MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EDUCATOR IN THE PALMETTO STATE AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

 

Whereas, a founding staff member at one of Lexington's largest schools, Jacob Smith joined the faculty of River Bluff High School when the school opened in 2013 and later became the school's second principal in 2021; and

 

Whereas, River Bluff High School serves more than 2,000 students and is widely regarded as one of the top schools in the Midlands, situated on nearly one hundred fifty acres with state-of-the-art facilities; and

 

Whereas, Principal Smith consistently credits the collective strength and dedication of his faculty and staff for the school's success. According to a Lexington County School District One press release, "As a founding staff member, he played a vital role in establishing the school's culture and core programs"; and

 

Whereas, after earning his degree from the University of South Carolina, Mr. Smith began his career in Beaufort County before joining the staff of Spring Valley High School in Richland County. He later served as principal of Brookland-Cayce High School in Lexington School District Two before moving to River Bluff High School; and

 

Whereas, during his tenure at Brookland-Cayce High School, the school's graduation rate increased by 6.5%, and end-of-course exam scores improved in biology, algebra, English, and United States history; and

 

Whereas, through his leadership, dedication, and commitment to student success, Principal Smith has made a lasting impact on countless students, teachers, and families throughout his distinguished career. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Jacob Smith, principal of River Bluff High School, for more than twenty years of dedicated service as an educator in the Palmetto State and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Jacob Smith.
