VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
to recognize and honor kistler-hardee funeral home of darlington and to commend the mortuary for more than a century of compassionate service to the people of the pee dee region and the state of south carolina.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to recognize institutions that have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to serving their communities with professionalism, dignity, and care; and
Whereas, founded on February 12, 1922, by John Harry "J.H." Kistler, Kistler Funeral Home began its service to the Darlington community when Mr. Kistler, a World War I veteran who served in the United States Army Medical Corps, dedicated his life to caring for families in their time of need; and
Whereas, after receiving formal training in embalming and funeral service from respected institutions in North Carolina and Illinois, Mr. Kistler established the funeral home in Darlington, where it quickly became a trusted presence for families across the region; and
Whereas, through the decades, the funeral home continued to grow and adapt while maintaining its commitment to compassionate service, eventually relocating to the historic McCown House at the corner of Pearl Street and Edwards Avenue, believed to be one of the oldest homes in Darlington; and
Whereas, the Kistler family continued the legacy of service as T. C. Kistler joined the family business and remained active in both the funeral profession and public service, including distinguished service on the Darlington County School Board and the South Carolina State Board of Education; and
Whereas, on January 1, 1999, J. Todd Hardee and his wife, Jenny, assumed ownership of the firm, continuing the tradition of excellence and adding the Hardee name, forming the respected Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home known today; and
Whereas, for more than a century, Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home has provided comfort, professionalism, and compassionate care to generations of families during some of life's most difficult moments, earning the trust and respect of the Darlington community and the entire Pee Dee region; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the dedication and service of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home and recognize the vital role it has played in supporting families and strengthening the community for more than one hundred years. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington and commend the mortuary for more than a century of compassionate service to the people of the Pee Dee region and the State of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home.
