A house RESOLUTION

TO HONOR THE CAMBRIDGE ACADEMY VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND COACHES FOR A STELLAR SEASON AND TO APPLAUD THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, Cambridge Academy volleyball team of Greenwood County captured another state title for the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) at Ben Lippen School in Columbia on Monday, October 27, 2025. Cambridge Academy's exuberant fans were delighted as the team defeated Curtis Baptist School in a decisive 3-0 in the best of five series: 25-5, 25-14, and 25-5 to take consecutive state titles. The Cambridge Lady Cougars finished the season with an impressive 19-5-1 record with a perfect 10-0 in region play. Fifteen of their victories came from 3-0 sweeps; and

Whereas, in the opening set, Cambridge senior Khloe Cheeks set the tone of the match with eight unanswered serves. In the third set, she continued to dominate the Curtis Baptist Lady Crusaders with thirteen straight unanswered points that helped the Lady Cougars seal the championship match. Cambridge seniors were Aubrey Louden, Addison Leopard, Isreal Southerland, and Khloe Cheeks. The latter led with 31 assists, 10 service aces, 6 kills, and 7 digs, and shared Region 3 Player of the Year honors with Addison Leopard, who led with 10 kills, 9 assists, 4 digs, and 1 ace; and

Whereas, in a sport that exacts speed, agility, and measured strength, Head Coach Chelsie Calvert and her fine coaching staff used their own athletic training to build a championship team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the court. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor the Cambridge Academy volleyball team and coaches for a stellar season and applaud them for winning the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 1A State Championship title.
