A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE ROCK HILL HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS WRESTLING TEAM FOR A STELLAR SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THE LADY BEARCATS ON WINNING THE 2026 SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE CLASS AAAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is delighted to learn that the members of the Rock Hill High School girls wrestling team captured the South Carolina High School League Class AAAAA top prize at this year's state tournament, held at Dreher High School in Columbia on Saturday, February 7, 2026; and

 

Whereas, with the victory, the Rock Hill girls wrestling team capped off a perfect 17-0 season and earned the right to hardware only champions get to take home; and

 

Whereas, to the cheers of their ecstatic fans, the Lady Bearcats won the crown with a dominant 66-15 decision against Greenwood. The Lady Bearcats now have won state titles in each of the two years the South Carolina High School League has held dual championships, and in nailing this repeat win, Rock Hill also repeated its victory over Greenwood in last year's championship competition; and

 

Whereas, Rock Hill defeated Spartanburg 72-12 and White Knoll 64-18 on Thursday to advance to Saturday's final four. The Bearcats defeated Blythewood 47-36 in the semifinals Saturday morning; and

 

Whereas, ranked No. 1 by scmat.com heading into the postseason, the Lady Bearcats are 33-0 in dual matches over the past two years; and

 

Whereas, Head Coach Cain Beard, rightly proud of his grapplers, capitalized on his own athletic ability and experience to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable throughout life, both on and off the mats; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition the Rock Hill wrestlers have brought to their school and community, and the members look forward to following their continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Rock Hill High School girls wrestling team for a stellar season and congratulate the Lady Bearcats on winning the 2026 South Carolina High School League Class AAAAA State Championship title.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Buddy King and Head Coach Cain Beard of Rock Hill High School.
