A house RESOLUTION

 

to commend and express sincere gratitude to the outstanding student interns who have dedicated their time and talents to serving the state of south carolina through the university of south carolina department of political science's undergraduate internship program.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to recognize the exceptional student interns of the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science's undergraduate internship program, who have proven themselves invaluable in supporting the members and staff of the House, state executive agencies, and the Office of the Governor; and

 

Whereas, under the leadership of Joshua Meyer-Gutbrod, Ph.D., the undergraduate internship program has completed its sixth semester of service. During the 2025-2026 academic year, the program hosted one hundred five students in a variety of internships, including sixty-eight students in the spring and fifty-four students in the fall. Of these, thirty-one served in state executive agencies, seventeen in the House of Representatives, and ten in the Senate. Additionally, students contributed to federal offices, law firms, and campaign organizations; and

 

Whereas, participation in the program requires students to complete a 120-hour internship during the semester and to enroll in a course on state government at the University of South Carolina. This year's participants include: Aaron McLeod, Andrew Graham, Armaan Verma, Baze Duckworth, Caitlyn Birkner, Cassidy Martin, Celeste Sofia Salas Moctezuma, Chance Kirby, Christina Dobrowolski, Clara Stavrinakis, Derek Pena Diaz, Doug Ruff, Dylan Dunn, Emily Loveless, Emily Ranaghan, Eva Burba, Evan Shealy, Gabriella Brodsky, Grace Short, Grayson Snyder, Harshy Patel, Holly Parker, Hope Denison, Ian Herd, Isabella Lorenzo, Iyanna Broadus, Jack Burns, Jeffrey Lyons, Jeremiah Palmer, John Kirven, Jonathan Biering, Jordan Jeffreys, Katherine Garbett, Kenzie Moten, Kimberlee Shanahan, Kylee Liddle, Lauren Anderson, Luke Jannazzo, Makayla Jones, Maria Reyes, Mercy Fletcher, Michael Baker, Morgan Fletcher, Morgan Magruder, Nicholas Harris, Nicole Paulhus, Rae Vaughn, Rylee Merli, Samantha Johnson, Samuel Seigler, Savannah Bornheim, Surina Leszkowicz, Tyler Frinter, Tyler Mazzella, William Lemire, Zoe Kaplan, and Zoe Scott; and

 

Whereas, many of these students have made meaningful contributions to the State of South Carolina through their work in the legislature and state agencies, and several are pursuing careers in public service; and

 

Whereas, the House of Representatives is grateful for the dedication and excellence demonstrated by these student interns and takes great pride in recognizing their service while wishing them continued success in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and express sincere gratitude to the outstanding student interns who have dedicated their time and talents to serving the State of South Carolina through the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science's undergraduate internship program. 

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the undergraduate internship program of the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science.
